PMAY-U 2.0 also prioritises support for special focused groups. Widows, single women, differently-abled persons, senior citizens, transgenders, individuals from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and minority communities, as well as people living in slums or chawls, are given preference under the scheme.

- Applicant's Aadhaar details (Aadhaar number, name as per Aadhaar, date of birth)

In addition to the income and property criteria mentioned above, applicants must fulfil the following conditions:
The applicant must be a first-time homebuyer.
No member of the applicant's family should own a pucca house anywhere in India.
No family member should have availed benefits under any PMAY housing scheme during the previous 20 years.
For the purpose of eligibility assessment, a family comprises the husband, wife, and unmarried children.
The property must be owned solely by a woman or jointly with a woman family member.
The house must be located in a notified urban area and should have an approved layout plan, unless exempted by the respective state government.
Aadhaar details of the applicant, co-applicants, and family members are mandatory.
Balance transfer loans from other banks or financial institutions are not eligible under the Interest Subsidy Scheme.
