The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs MoHUA launched the Angikaar campaign in August 2019. Let's take a closer look at what it is, who can benefit from it and other vital details about this awareness campaign.
What is it
This campaign aims to bring the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana PMAY under the fold of other Central Government Schemes like Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme, and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana LPG Gas Connection Scheme. The Angikaar Campaign was officially rolled out on October 2nd, 2019, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
The Mission of the Angikaar Campaign
The MoHUA, via its flagship mission, PMAY, offers Central assistance to States and Union territories to address the affordable housing needs of eligible beneficiaries in the urban areas. The aim of this mission is "To provide pucca housing for all by 2022, with basic amenities like toilet, running water, electricity, and kitchen."
So far, the MoHUA has approved around 85,00,000 houses, of which 26,00,000 houses are completed. With the Angikaar campaign, the MoHUA aims to provide eligible beneficiaries, not just with housing but also address their various pressing lifestyle challenges like cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation. By adopting the practices of the campaign, beneficiaries will learn the best methods to maintain their new homes and enjoy several amenities and essential civic services.
How does it work
