Green Sustainable Handbook
‘Green homes’ are homes that are designed and built to be comfortable and healthy and cause minimal harm to the environment. Such homes are beneficial to both the residents and society at large.
The Green Handbook v. 1 called ‘Building Green’ co-authored by Ar. Ashok B Lal (Principal Architect, Ashok B Lall Architects) promotes the building of green affordable homes by discussing the various ways of designing such buildings and the processes of implementing them. The handbook provides step-by-step guidance on design and construction to enable projects to obtain a good rating, be environment friendly, and avail concessional financial assistance as well as associated services.
The handbook targets developers, architects, construction engineers and homeowners. It helps homeowners understand the technical aspects of green homes, provides practical tips to architects and construction engineers on various aspects of design and construction to achieve the desired green rating, and simplifies the developer’s task in building green homes.
To further the momentum and widen the reach, the Green Handbook v.2 (design + construction manual) has been conceptualized to support the last mile stakeholders in putting green principles into practice.
